Food thoughts

I’ve decided to start making my own original gourmet pizzas at home. It’s the one food I make here from scratch that I have fun experimenting with the entire process even if it fails. Pizza is good whenever. Some people get crafty with cupcakes on here, and while I admire their creativity I don’t have much of a sweet tooth and have never been great with baked goods. So I’ll stick to something I know and have a true love for. Pizza. And one of my favorite places for pizza is sadly not here, but in Cincinnati. You may not expect it but Cincinnati is a fantastic place for food. Whether it’s Melt for their awesome eclectic vegetarian options, Wild Ginger for THE BEST sushi I’ve ever had and such a beautiful atmosphere, LaRosa’s the old hometown favorite pizza and pasta stop, or Deweys; pizza and salad perfection.

I’ve been striving to create the perfect Dewey’s Green Lantern pizza. I haven’t made it just right yet but I’m getting there. Oh and their house salad will blow you away. Jen and I used to go there for lunches and it was such a great way to spend a day off. Followed up by guitar hero and singstar at her place of course.

I’ve also been working towards creating a good version of the Chicago style deep dish pizza. I’m sorry people but New York style pizza has nothing on Chicago. In fact, cities of the world, none of you have anything on Chicago. That place is the best city in the world and quite possibly the most underrated. People overlook Chicago often because it’s not very flashy. It doesn’t have the built in personality that certain cultures bring to a city. Chicago isn’t in a glamorous spot and the weather is universally recognized as the worst. I love it though. I love it’s endless amount of things to do. Its gorgeous architecture. Its view of the lake. Its sports fans, the die-hard-no-matter-what fans. Its amazing people. It has everything you want in a large city but instead of harsh New Yorkers, or fake L.A. hipsters you get down to earth midwesterners with a great sense of humor. Some of my favorite celebrities are from Chicago. John Cusack, Bill Murray, Vince Vaughn, John Belushi. I’d love to get to a point in my life where I could afford to travel there more often. I will for sure be taking a trip there for a Bears game this fall.

I dont know what this post was about exactly. I just felt like rambling. Now its time to get to sleep with all the fur children (Bandit, Napoleon, and Scrappy), my snuggle friends.
